GREPOM-Birdlife Morocco « , Souss-Massa celebrated World Migratory Bird Day 2017, under the theme » Their future is our future; let’s respect the planet for migratory birds and for men « .
On this occasion, numerous educational activities (bird-environment workshops, photo exhibition of the birds of the Souss-Massa wetlands, and the creation and installation of nesting boxes) were organized for young high school students in order to
- Discover the diversity of wetland birds in the Souss-Massa region and their way of life
- Demonstrate that the conservation of migratory birds contributes to the good management of natural resources and contributes to sustainable development and is therefore crucial for the future of humanity.
- Making young people aware of the respect of the environment in general and birds in particular.
In total, 1130 students from the region of Souss-Massa participated and benefited from various activities animated and supervised by the teachers of Life and Earth Sciences (Tamraoui Y. / Lycée Almaarifa, Lacheheb M. / Annahda High School, Mouraz O. / Ibn Majah High School and Baran H. / High School ‘Ida ougoumade – Taroudannt), during the period from 9 to 14 May 2017.
In addition, a discovery of the avifauna was organized at the Foum El kheneg – Taroudannt Dam Lake, in favor of the teachers of Life and Earth Sciences, in order to discover the lake bird life.
